Cleaning COVID-19

3/23/2020 (Permalink)

First, before we get into the nitty gritty, take a big deep breath in through your nose, hold it for a second and let it out through your mouth. Do it one more time for good measure… alright! Let’s talk about COVID-19, and what SERVPRO of Grapevine/NE Tarrant County can do for you during this unprecedented time.

Unless you’re like one of my friends who was hiking several volcanos in the southern hemisphere the last few months, you’ve most likely heard about COVID-19 aka Coronavirus. It’s a novel (new) virus that was first detected in China. It has since spread to all 50 states in the continental United States with 223 cases in Texas as of today, March 23rd, 2020. It’s thought to be spread through person-to-person when a person who’s infected coughs or sneezes. We also know that the virus can live up to 4 hours on copper, 24 hours on cardboard, and 2-3 days on plastics and steel. We still don’t really know a lot about it, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t take precautionary action against the virus in our commercial spaces and homes.

We here at SERVPRO have a lot of years under our belt dealing with biological hazards like viruses, bacteria, fungi, and mold. We perform remediation on homes and businesses affected by mold, sewage, and hoarding situations on a weekly basis. Currently, we are being called on by several businesses and community leaders to help clean, disinfect and sanitize their properties, and we can help you too!

All of our cleanup practices are in accordance with the CDC and local authorities. We also use several products that are considered hospital-grade disinfectants which the CDC recommends the usage of for cleaning similar pathogens. In accordance to the CDC, we here at SERVPRO of Grapevine/NE Tarrant County recommend daily cleaning of the following high-touch surfaces:
